Canadians in Spring

Once again, I’ve hit the point of Overwhelm. You can tell it is happening when I miss blog posts, as I did last week. I don’t know how it happened this time, it may just be a “busy season” for my volunteer stuff. Maybe it is the ramp-up to summer travels. Maybe I’ve just hit my limit on the number of days I can go full tilt without a rest. Whatever the reason, I need to ease up a bit and let myself breathe. It is a lesson I have to learn over and over again, and it never seems to stick in my brain.

All that to say that you are getting a photo essay instead of a written blog post this week. One small lightening of my overwhelm.

Something I have noticed over the last several years is that on the first warm, sunny spring weekend, everyone in Canada immediately heads outdoors. After months of cold and being cooped up inside, all we seem to want to do is bathe in the sunshine. Whether its going for a run, eating lunch on a patio or just sitting on the grass, everyone finds an excuse to be outside. Like all the other the people of Ottawa, I spent a big part of this weekend enjoying the warmth and celebrating the arrival of Spring, in my own way.

Great post. Your photographs remind me of the years I lived in Ottawa while at university.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
