Every Wednesday I participate in “Yarn Along”, a link-up run by Ginny over at Small Things where we share what we are knitting and reading this week. Head over to the Small Things blog to see what other bloggers are sharing!
I’m almost halfway through the body of this striped baby blanket I’m making from my own invented pattern. The plan is to knit four garter stripes in the blanket and five stockinette stripes in the white, then put a border on in a neon colour to get it up to size and to keep the sides from curling. I don’t have the neon yarn yet, and since this whole project was designed to use up every scrap of the acrylic yarn I was given, buying more to complete it seems a little odd. It is good couch knitting, though, so I don’t mind.
I’ve had the book Ox Travels for a few years, and I think I’ve read the first few stories before now because they seemed very familiar on this read through. The book is a collection of short stories on the theme of encounters while traveling. There is quite a variety between the different stories so it is mildly engaging. I don’t tend to like short story collections because I like to be drawn in to a plot over the course of the book, but this book works well when I just want to read for 10 minutes before going to sleep. Probably not a book I’ll keep on my shelf for very long, though.
