Every Wednesday I participate in “Yarn Along”, a link-up run by Ginny over at Small Things where we share what we are knitting and reading this week. Head over to the Small Things blog to see what other bloggers are sharing!
I’m still working on my Faroe shawl, and like the Fichu (still abandoned in my closet), this one is going to take awhile. So expect to see it featured here for a few weeks at least! I also finished a few hexipuffs for my beekeeper’s quilt. That project hibernates most of the time, and I only pick it up when I have a lot of fingering weight scraps or when I’m between projects. I’ve pretty much run out of scraps for now, so it’s going back into the closet until I finish some socks and have leftovers again. I’ve been spending a lot of my time sewing so there really hasn’t been much knitting progress lately.
I’m still working on The Homemade Pantry, but I also just started Mend it Better. This book is about basic mending, and finding creative ways to make mended clothes look new rather than patched. I’m not very far into it yet, but it looks very interesting so far. I’ve really been on a do-it-yourself, don’t waste anything kick lately, which stems both from my dislike of shopping and a need to save money. I’m in a place right now where I definitely have more free time than spare cash, so these kind of books are really relevant to my current lifestyle. Hopefully I’ll be able to actually put some of these ideas into practice before work gets busy again!
